Chocolate Mousse Mold

Bottomless ring mould / ring mould…?

please can someone tell me what is the difference?

I just went to the kitchen store wanting a bottomless ring mould to make a chocolate mousse in and they gave me a ring mould. So, what are ring moulds for? What are bottomless ring moulds for?

Can I use a ring mould instead of a bottomless ring mould?

I am a former chef and your likely going to have to find a restaurant supply store, they will have them, at one time they were only used in the pastry shop for small cakes, cutters or as you wanted frozen or set mousses for desserts or cakes.

One other place to get a similar item and it is alot cheaper is the hardware store or lumber supply place like Lowe’s or Home Depot, buy 1-2 feet of PVC pipe 2-4″ diameter, grey or white, and get them to cut it into 1-3″ lengths, you can use this for cold thing not hot, we used them in places were metal rings were scarce or unavailable. It might cost you $4-8 for it and as they cut lumber to length just ask then to do that for you, and they can be washed in the dishwasher to.
